Folding propeller operation
As part of a student project we filmed a two-bladed folding propeller in operation whilst the vessel was moored. This short video shows the onset of tip cavitation at high revs, and when the prop is engaged in reverse, the folding blades never throw out beyond about 45 degrees. The test sequence is:
slow revs in forward gear,
high revs forward,
low revs reverse,
medium revs reverse, and
high revs reverse.
